Adrinne (Binoche), a successful New York designer, Frédéric (Berling) an economist in Paris, and Jérémie (Renier) a dynamic businessman working in China, are three forty-something siblings whose disparate lives come together annually in the country home of their childhood. The sudden death of their mother, heiress to an exceptional 19th Century art collection, forces them to confront the end of their childhood, their shared memories, and their futures. Springing from the same Musée d’Orsay commissions which produced Hou Hsiao Hsien’s the red balloon, summer hours raises questions about art, heritage, memory and identity.
