If you just want to get stuck in - making and reviewing art and film - then check out LiveWire.
If you have some films in the can, as they say, have a look at exposures student film festival - a mini Cannes without the sun!
If you're at school or college check out Projector events (in the Schools & Colleges section) and why not ask your teacher to arrange a trip?

Livewire

LiveWire is a Cornerhouse education project for 14 to 18 year olds who want to get creative and work with experienced artists and filmmakers. Film, art and multi-technology projects and events run throughout the year and are free!
Check out the website at www.livewire-manchester.com to see what has already been achieved by the group and find out about projects you’d like to join in with.

EXPOSURES

Our popular annual film festival for students - from school pupils to post graduates. It promotes and encourages filmmaking through competitive screenings, career guidance, industry events (e.g. film funding), and masterclasses. Competition winners have not only won filmmaking equipment, paid placements and a distribution deal but have found the festival accolade has led to employment, film funding, and further festival prizes at national festivals. Find out more on the exposures website.

Underexposed is exposures' strand dedicated to young people's filmmaking, and entirely devised by the LiveWire Management Team. The screenings for this year are already programmed and look out for the announcement of the underexposed event later this month!
